Franz Brandner

Austrian Contemporary Artist
"I don't just replicate what I see; I reinterpret it, letting my own emotions shape the final image."

“Every line I paint, every color I choose – it all comes from nature, but filtered through my own eyes and hands. I don’t just replicate what I see; I reinterpret it“

THE ARTIST

Franz Brandner was born in austria and has been working as a painter for many years. his artistic journey has taken him from his home country to Korea and other parts of the world where he has developed a deep appreciation for different cultures, landscapes and people.

He has exhibited internationally, including the USA, France, Germany, Japan and Korea.
Today, he lives and works between Austria and Korea, continuing to explore new perspectives through his art.

ARTISTIC LANGUAGE

For Franz Brandner, painting begins with observation but does not end with what is seen. Nature, people, objects, places and everyday moments provide the starting points. Through colour, gesture and form, these impressions are transformed by memory, emotion and imagination.

He does not simply reproduce what he sees; he reinterprets it, allowing his own emotions and experiences to shape the final image. In this process, reality becomes something more personal. The painting becomes a conversation between what is seen and unseen, between the world and the artist himself.

BETWEEN CULTURES

Austria and Korea have both become important parts of Franz Brandner’s artistic perspective.

Living and working across different cultural environments has expanded the way he observes people, places, traditions and everyday life. The encounter between cultures has become a source of curiosity rather than a boundary.

Korea, in particular, has opened new perspectives on landscape culture, movement and human experience, while his Austrian background remains an important foundation within his artistic identity.

These different experiences come together naturally in his work, contributing to a visual language that moves between familiarity and discovery, tradition and contemporary expression.

Art, for me, is more than just capturing a moment. It’s about feeling, memory, and imagination all blending together. It’s a conversation between what’s seen and unseen, between the world and myself.
